Lori Litherland believed that the agriculture industry was unmatched in its people, careers and potential. She wanted to see it flourish, and so, she branched out from the search management business she was working for to found her own firm (Litherland & Company) and spent over 26 years placing top talent with agribusiness across the country.
Because of her profession, most people knew Lori or knew of someone who had been impacted by her guidance. Whether it was speaking at industry events, consulting with educators or networking, Lori had the rare ability to connect, inspire and form lasting relationships.
As an extension to her role, Lori also encouraged people to evolve, grow and learn – and lived out those same messages through her own continuous learning and improvement. She was a great motivator of youth, and encourager of education. She felt that young minds bring the industry so much excitement and promise.
It was fitting then, when she became ill, Lori founded and endowed a registered charity, Lori Litherland Foundation, to raise funds that will enable financially disadvantaged students the opportunity to attend university and follow their passion for agricultural studies at the University of Guelph.
In its inception, the scholarships will be awarded to two first-year undergraduates in the Ontario Agriculture College (OAC) – an organization that mirrors Lori’s commitment to inspiring leaders, lifelong learning and devotion to community.
Since her passing, the Litherland & Company team remains committed to producing results for their clients, and they, along with Lori’s partner Gerry, are supporting and implementing the Foundation. And, akin to how she lived her life, the Lori Litherland Foundation will also continue to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the next generation of agriculture.
